About the studio
MAGNET launched July 6, 2019 as a new anime and visual content label under Kyoraku Sangyo, a company better known for manufacturing pachinko and pachislot machines. The name draws from Manga, Anime, Game, Novel, and Entertainment, and its debut project was the 2019 anime film Human Lost, co-produced with Slowcurve. *Another pachinko manufacturer deciding it wanted a piece of the anime production business, which by this point should feel like a running theme.* Worth a quick note: there are unrelated, similarly named small companies in Japan, including a design agency in Osaka, so it's worth double-checking that any given credit refers to this specific Kyoraku Sangyo label. Barely five years old as of its founding, MAGNET represents one of the newer entrants into anime financing from an industry, pachinko, that's had a surprisingly consistent presence in bankrolling anime production over the decades.
