About the studio
LIDENFILMS was founded February 22, 2012, based in Ogikubo, Suginami, Tokyo, and it expanded relatively quickly, opening a Kyoto studio branch in 2015 and an Osaka branch in 2013. It joined the Ultra Super Pictures holding company shortly after founding, alongside studios like Sanzigen and Trigger, giving it access to shared resources across that group. Its catalog includes Akame ga Kill!, a co-production credit on Assassination Classroom, and the 2016/2017 Berserk. *Multiple regional studio branches within its first few years is an ambitious growth pace for a company barely into its teens.* A little over a decade since its founding, LIDENFILMS has grown from a single Tokyo studio into a multi-city production operation, part of a broader trend of newer studios building out regional branches rather than staying centralized entirely in the capital.
