About the studio
J.C.Staff was founded January 18, 1986 by Tomoyuki Miyata, a former Tatsunoko Production staffer who clearly had strong opinions about how to run a studio. Based in Musashino, Tokyo, it released its first work, Yōtōden, in 1987 and has been steadily producing anime ever since, from the sprawling A Certain Magical Index and Railgun franchises to the sharp comedy of Azumanga Daioh and the workplace grind of Bakuman. *Not flashy, just reliably good,* which is honestly its own kind of reputation to have in an industry full of one-hit studios. Nearly four decades in, J.C.Staff has built a catalog that spans comedy, action, and slice of life without ever locking itself into one genre.
