About the studio
Studio Gallop was founded December 13, 1978 by Akio Wakana, a former Mushi Production employee, based in Nerima, Tokyo. It started out doing photography work for Studio Pierrot and Group TAC before growing into a full production studio in its own right, eventually becoming the animation home of the Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise across Duel Monsters, GX, 5D's, Zexal, and Arc-V, spanning 2000 to 2017. *Going from doing photography favors for other studios to running a card game anime franchise for 17 straight years is a genuine glow-up.* It also animated the first 66 episodes of the 1996 Rurouni Kenshin TV series. Nearly 50 years since its founding, Gallop's name is inseparable from Yu-Gi-Oh! for an entire generation of fans, a single franchise commitment that spanned nearly two decades of continuous production.
