About the studio
BS NTV, sometimes called BS4, launched December 1, 2000, with its parent company BS Nippon Corporation established two years earlier in December 1998. As a subsidiary of Nippon Television Holdings, BS NTV serves as Nippon TV's satellite counterpart, and it rebranded its logo in 2014 to align more closely with its parent network's branding. *Another satellite sibling to a major terrestrial network, following the same playbook as BS Fuji and BS Asahi launched that same month in 2000.* Its programming leans general rather than anime-specific, airing some anime as part of a broader slate rather than building an identity around it the way AT-X or BS11 have. A quarter century since its launch, BS NTV remains one of the less flashy pieces of Japan's satellite broadcasting landscape, quietly extending its parent network's reach rather than carving out a distinct niche of its own.
