About the studio
8bit, sometimes styled Eight Bit, was founded in September 2008 by Tsutomu Kasai along with former members of Satelight, based in Suginami, Tokyo. Its catalog includes later seasons of Ah! My Goddess, Absolute Duo, In/Spectre, and co-production credits on Yuru Camp. *A studio built by Satelight alumni striking out to build their own identity.* 8bit partnered with Bandai Namco starting in June 2020 and became a full subsidiary of Bandai Namco Filmworks on April 1, 2024, formalizing a relationship that had been building for years. Over 15 years since its founding, 8bit's absorption into the larger Bandai Namco structure gives it a level of institutional backing that smaller independent studios don't usually get, a stability that a lot of mid-tier studios in this industry would genuinely envy.
